At Kent Skin & Laser Clinic, our consultant dermatologist-led team offers two consultation types, so you see the right clinician for your concern. Based in Canterbury, we welcome patients from across Kent, including Whitstable, Herne Bay, Faversham, Ashford, Folkestone, Dover, Deal and the surrounding areas.
What is a Dermatology Consultation?
A dermatology consultation is a specialist appointment to assess a skin, hair or nail concern. Your skin, hair or nails are examined closely, using dermoscopy where helpful, and you leave with a clear diagnosis where possible and a personalised plan for treatment or further investigation.
A consultation may be right for you if:
- You have a new or changing skin, hair or nail concern that needs a proper diagnosis
- You have been told your condition might benefit from laser or IPL treatment
- You would like a second opinion on a skin condition
- You want a consultation before deciding whether treatment is right for you
- You are unsure which type of appointment your concern needs
Any new or changing mole should be seen by a clinician, so please mention it when you book. We can then arrange for it to be assessed first.
Our Consultation Options
We offer two consultation types. If you are not sure which applies to you, our team is happy to advise before you book.
Consultant Dermatologist and Medical Director Consultation
Our Consultant Dermatologist and Medical Director sees patients for moles, skin cancer concerns, skin lesions, rashes and general dermatological problems. This consultation is from £300. For a full body check, you may prefer our mole check appointment.
Dermatology Consultation with Specialty Doctor
Our Specialty Doctor in Dermatology sees patients specifically for conditions that may be treated with laser or IPL, including rosacea, acne, sun damage, pigmentation and vascular lesions. This consultation is from £250. If laser or IPL is being considered, a patch test is usually carried out at, or shortly after, your consultation, at an additional cost of £50 for new patients.
Why Choose Kent Skin & Laser Clinic?
Dermatology is the heart of our clinic, with 20+ years of local expertise. Patients choose us because we offer:
- Consultant-led dermatology, with moles, lesions and skin cancer concerns assessed by our Consultant Dermatologists
- Minor surgery here in the clinic under local anaesthetic, so you can go home the same day
- Histology included as standard when tissue is removed, with the cost included in your price
- CQC-regulated care, with all major private medical insurers accepted
We welcome patients from Canterbury and across Kent.
What Happens at the Appointment?
Your appointment begins with a conversation, during which our team will:
- Talk through your symptoms and medical history
- Ask about any treatment you have already tried
- Examine your skin, hair or nails closely, using dermoscopy where helpful
- Explain the diagnosis and your options
You leave with a clear diagnosis where possible, and a personalised plan for treatment or further investigation. Where a treatment is suitable, such as mole removal, cryotherapy or laser, our team will explain the next steps and costs, and arrange them either at the same visit where appropriate or as a prompt follow-up. Downtime after a consultation is minimal.

“Highly recommended going to The Skin Laser Clinic for keloid scaring!! I had a tattoo on my left wrist which I got laser removal while’s living in Dubai but unfortunately it went wrong and left me with a thick, red scar on my wrist after it being healed. Since doing 2 treatments at the clinic it has reduced the redness and flattering my scar. I feel so much better with how it looks and would highly recommend for people who have keloid scaring.”
